It’s week two of the $100 Room Challenge, hosted by Lemons, Lavender and Laundry, and despite how crazy the last week has been (school and hockey tryouts starting, our little man’s birthday) we are actually already starting to see our room take shape!
In case you are new to my blog, the $100 Room Challenge features a group of bloggers, making over a room in their home while sticking to a $100 budget, sharing progress along the way.
Last week, I introduced you to our eat-in kitchen. Given the open concept layout of our home, we were never quite sure what to do with the space and recently, a happy accident (that’s what I call my somewhat regular mismeasurements when ordering home items), led us to decide to turn it into a homework space for our son.
Our largest task for the space was to replace the trim and repaint the walls. We had ordered trim for the entire main floor about eight months ago, however have only completed the living room so far.
My husband and I don’t typically have any time during the week to work on our home projects so in order to keep up with the challenge, we had to divide and conquer this weekend. While we didn’t see much of each other, we did manage to get the old trim off and the gorgeous new trim installed!
As for the paint, let’s just say I went a little crazy during a “buy one get one” event at Benjamin Moore last summer and we will be set for paint in this house for many projects to come.
All that to say, these two projects were quite time consuming but didn’t take anything away from my limited budget and I am thrilled with how they turned out!
Can you believe what a difference that new trim makes? I love it! The space now seamlessly transitions from the living room and is fresh, clean and ready to accessorize!
We have some DIY projects planned for this weekend and I haven’t yet spent any of my budget so check back in next Wednesday to see what we !
